The China PR Women’s football team are one of the most respected teams in Asia, with unrivalled success in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ and will be looking to defend their crown from 2022 when the team arrives in Australia.

Led by captain Wu Hayan, China PR also known as the ‘Steel Roses’ are currently ranked 4th in Asia (17th in the world) and blend a strong technical playing style and quick attacking transitions made possible with a host of stars returning for another the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ campaign. Head coach Ante Milicic brings an Australian perspective to the team having coached extensively in Australia at club and international level, including as interim coach of the Matildas in 2019.

The ‘Steel Roses’ name is an integral part of the team identity, reflecting their strength, resilience and fierce competitiveness. China PR have won a record 9x AFC Women’s Asian Cups including an incredible 7 consecutive titles from 1986 to 1999.

Wang Shuang is an exceptional presence on field with over 130 international appearances, as well as top flight club football at overseas leagues in the UK & USA, through Tottenham Hotspurs and Racing Louisville FC, now returning to the Chinese Women’s Super League at Wuhan Jiangda.

Tang Jiali (64 caps) is another player to watch. A goal scorer in the dramatic 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup final win over Korea Republic, Tang also brings a wealth of experience from club football after stints with Tottenham Hotspurs and Real Madrid.

Zhu Yu is another key for the Steel Roses. The imposing goal keeper was a major influence in China PR’s 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ final win and will be looking to repeat the efforts in 2026.
